I am currently undertaking a PhD focused on the development of cobalt-based and iron-based alloys for high-temperature glass vitrification applications. My research explores key areas such as microstructure, thermal stability, mechanical performance, and corrosion resistance, with a particular emphasis on understanding degradation mechanisms to inform alloy design. I work closely with industry partners to ensure our research addresses real-world challenges and has practical applications. My approach combines CALPHAD modelling with advanced characterisation techniques, including SEM, TEM, XRD, and DSC, to analyse material behaviour. Additionally, I have designed a custom molten glass immersion testing rig and adapted furnace setups for controlled-atmosphere experiments, enabling the simulation of realistic industrial conditions.
